Terms of Service

Last Updated: January 29, 2026. Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the Refunto mobile application. By accessing or using Refunto, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Refunto mobile application ("App"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you", or "your") and Refunto ("we", "us", or "our").

2. Description of Service

What Refunto IS:

  • A personal reminder and tracking tool for refund deadlines
  • A mobile application that sends push notifications before user-entered deadlines expire
  • A data storage service for user-entered refund information (store names, amounts, dates, optional receipt photos)

What Refunto IS NOT:

  • NOT a refund processing service - we do NOT process, facilitate, or handle actual refund transactions
  • NOT affiliated with any retailers, stores, or e-commerce platforms
  • NOT responsible for shipping, return logistics, or communication with retailers
  • NOT a guarantee of successful refunds or financial outcomes
  • NOT a verification service for store policies or return windows

3. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • Entering accurate refund information (store names, product names, amounts, purchase dates, deadline dates)
  • Verifying return policies directly with retailers before relying on deadlines
  • Processing actual returns and refunds with retailers yourself
  • Ensuring your device has proper notification permissions enabled
  • Maintaining internet connectivity for app functionality
  • Updating the App to receive the latest features and bug fixes
  • Any financial losses resulting from missed deadlines, incorrect data entry, or store policy changes

4. Critical Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

NO LIABILITY FOR MISSED DEADLINES

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Missed refund deadlines due to notification delivery failures
  • Device-related issues (battery death, airplane mode, do-not-disturb settings)
  • Operating system issues (iOS/Android notification bugs or delays)
  • Network connectivity problems
  • User error in entering incorrect deadline dates
  • Store policy changes that occur after data entry
  • Force majeure events (server outages, natural disasters, etc.)

NOTIFICATION DELIVERY IS "BEST EFFORT" ONLY. Push notifications depend on third-party services (Apple Push Notification Service, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Expo) that are outside our control. We cannot guarantee timely delivery or delivery at all.

NO LIABILITY FOR FINANCIAL LOSSES

YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT REFUNTO, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of money, profits, revenue, or expected savings
  • Cost of substitute goods or services
  • Inability to process returns or obtain refunds
  • Business interruption or loss of data
  • Emotional distress or reputational harm

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

NO WARRANTIES

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
  • Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or quality of information

5. Store Policies and Third-Party Retailers

We are NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for any retailers, stores, or e-commerce platforms. You acknowledge that:

  • Retailers may change return policies at any time without notice to us or you
  • We do not verify, validate, or guarantee the accuracy of any store return policy
  • You must check directly with retailers for current return policies and deadlines
  • Refunds, exchanges, and returns are subject to retailer terms and conditions
  • We are not liable for retailer disputes, denied returns, or policy changes

6. Subscription Terms and Billing

Free Tier

  • Limited to 3 refunds per month
  • Basic features (push notifications, deadline tracking, stats)
  • No payment required; subject to these Terms

Premium Subscription

  • Billed monthly ($2.99/month) or yearly ($29.99/year)
  • Includes unlimited refunds, receipt photo storage, notes, and priority support
  • Automatically renews unless cancelled before renewal date
  • Managed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store subscriptions

Billing and Payment

  • All payments are processed by Apple or Google, subject to their terms and policies
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the next billing date
  • To cancel: iOS - Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions; Android - Play Store > Subscriptions
  • No partial refunds for unused portions of subscription periods

Refunds for App Subscriptions

IMPORTANT: Refunds for app subscriptions are governed by Apple and Google policies, NOT by us. We do NOT process subscription refunds. Contact Apple or Google directly for subscription refund requests.

This is separate from the refunds you track in the app - the App does NOT process those refunds either.

7. Account and Data

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You must provide accurate, complete, and current information
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
  • You may delete your account at any time through Profile > Security Settings

8. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the App for illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, graphics, logos, and content, is owned by Refunto and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works
  • Remove copyright or proprietary notices
  • Use our trademarks or branding without permission

You retain ownership of content you upload (receipt photos, notes) but grant us a license to store and display it for App functionality.

10. Privacy and Data Collection

Your use of the App is subject to our Privacy Policy, available at refunto.com/privacy. By using the App, you consent to our data collection and processing practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services:

  • Supabase (database and authentication)
  • RevenueCat (subscription management)
  • Expo/Firebase (push notifications)
  • Apple/Google (authentication and app distribution)

These services have their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party service failures, data breaches, or changes to their services.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Refunto and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights
  • Disputes with retailers regarding refunds or returns

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms or for any other reason.

You may terminate your account at any time through the in-app "Delete Account" feature. Upon termination, all your data will be permanently deleted.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or small claims court, as applicable.

YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

BY USING THE REFUNTO APP, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS OF SERVICE.

YOU SPECIFICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT:

  • Refunto is a reminder tool only and does NOT process refunds
  • We are NOT liable for missed deadlines, notification failures, or financial losses
  • You are solely responsible for processing returns with retailers
  • Notification delivery is "best effort" and not guaranteed
  • The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties
